As US businesses begin to reopen, LegalTech News/Law.com (subscription required) asked lawyers how their firms are leveraging technology to inform clients on states’ and local governments’ evolving reopening requirements.
Lawyers interviewed for the May 26, 2020 article say that their firms’ COVID-19-related tech resources were developed to be planning tools for clients rather than marketing vehicles for the firms.
Washington DC partner Liz Stern, who leads Mayer Brown’s Global Mobility & Migration practice and helps direct the firm’s COVID-19 Response Team, says that the firm’s Back to Business Navigator was developed to provide “easy-to-digest information to clients, because they were starting to look at a multitude of issues” related to shutdown orders. Through an interactive map, the Navigator provides information on states’ restrictions and offers the ability to filter by industry.
First launched as the “Essential Business Navigator,” the tool now offers information on the unfolding relaxation of restrictions. Liz notes that as states lift restrictions, they could see an uptick in COVID-19 cases and respond by revoking their reopening mandates, developments that the Navigator will also track.
Among the tech-based resources firms have developed in response to the pandemic, Mayer Brown’s Global Stimulus Navigator and Global Traveler Navigator are also noted in the piece.
