Ukraine nationals in Ukraine

Situations where they can apply for visas in Ukraine

Consular services are suspended. However, due to visa-free travel for up to 90 days and recent decision of the Slovak government to provide temporary shelter to citizens of Ukraine and their family members after arriving in Slovakia, it is not required to obtain visa before entering Slovakia.

Any special considerations

Ukrainians may enter the Schengen Area without any visa and stay for 90 days (within a 180 day) only with a biometric passport. This exception does not apply to employment.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Slovakia will also allow the entry of persons without valid biometric passports, but such persons must apply for temporary refuge (once the government adopts a decision on granting temporary refuge) or asylum within Slovakia. Individuals may also apply for temporary residence for the purpose of family reunification.

If they cannot apply for visas in Ukraine, alternative options

Ukrainians may apply for a national visa at the Ministry of Interior or any other embassy of the Slovak Republic in the country where the applicant resides or of which the applicant is a citizen.

Non-Ukraine nationals in Ukraine

Situations where they can apply for visas in Ukraine

Every person who has legal residence in Ukraine and who is willing to apply for a visa may do so at the Slovak Embassy in Kiev.
