Options

The UK Home Office has introduced a temporary concession to allow Ukrainian nationals in the UK on a visitor visa to switch into another immigration route, including family-based routes, Skilled Worker, Seasonal Worker, and student. Ukraine nationals who are in the UK on a visitor visa and cannot return to Ukraine can apply to switch to another visa. They will need to meet the requirements of that visa route and pay the associated visa fee(s).

Other considerations

The UK government has announced a “Homes for Ukraine” program to enable individuals, charities, community groups and businesses to volunteer accommodation and provide a route to safety for Ukrainians, and their immediate family members, forced to escape their homeland. Sponsors should provide accommodation for as long as they are able, but the government has a minimum expectation of 6 months.

Someone is eligible for the scheme if they are a Ukrainian national or the immediate family member of a Ukrainian national, and were resident in Ukraine prior to 1 January 2022.
